FULL NAME: Jacob William Black.

FIRST IMPRESSION: "What did you do now?"
PERSONALITY: Jacob's smile is a perfect reflection of his personality. He is impish. He has a playful sense of humor and a mischievous streak a mile long. Jacob loves to laugh and make other people laugh, which is why most of what comes out of his mouth can't be taken seriously. He lives to lighten the mood and he is the best person to have around if you need cheering up because he is the best at wheedling a smile out of someone, no matter how stubborn. It's a gift.

Jacob is also pretty confident. He doesn't consider himself drop-dead gorgeous or anything, but he knows he's not ugly and his self-image is in no real danger. He comes across as a little more egotistical than he actually is, but he would be rather be self-absorbed than self-conscious as long as he doesn't believe his own hype. He has a quick temper that usually leads him to say things he doesn't mean, but he's also just as quick to apologize. Whether it's worth it is entirely up to whomever he hurt with his foot-in-mouth syndrome. He's idealistic but resilient, rolling with the punches and viewing a set-back as nothing more than that.

As both a brother and friend, Jacob is unquestionably loyal, though he will do things for people's own good if he thinks they're blind to what's best for them. He can grow downright manipulative when it comes to keeping people out of what he perceives as trouble and he can also be very stubborn. Once his mind is set on something, it is very hard to change it and he has all the persistence of a captain going down with his ship. He hates being lied to and he hates being kept in the dark, which means that he does his best to not to lie or withhold information from people. He's almost too blunt in his honesty. Harsh truths come out of his mouth just as easily as dinner orders.

Despite that, Jacob is bright and friendly. He's at home in a circle of people and he's open and social. It only takes about five minutes with Jacob to tell that he really lives life and his warmth and joie de vivre is available to anyone who cares to join him. He has a low tolerance for bull and people he perceives as fake or pretentious, but everyone else is more than welcome to become a student in the Jacob Black School of Life. There's nothing he wouldn't do for his friends and family (from fixing cars and bikes to taking a bullet). He's also got an adventurous, try anything once kind of spirit that occasionally leads him into trouble.

PARENTS: Billy Black (tribe elder) and Sarah Black (deceased).
THEIR RELATIONSHIP: Billy and Sarah were very affectionate, both with one another and with their children. Jacob's memories are fuzzy at best, but he remembers the days before his mother's death as some of the best of his life.
SIBLINGS: Rachel and Rebecca Black, 19-year-old twins. Quil Ateara is his cousin. Vaguely.
FAMILY DYNAMICS: Jacob and his father are extremely close and Jacob sees him as a best friend and confidante in addition to a father. He tells his father everything, though that could be because he has nothing to hide. Rebecca babies him sometimes, but Jacob loves her and hates her no good husband. He and Rachel are too alike to do anything but communicate by teasing, but the love is evident.

PERSONAL HISTORY: When Jacob tumbled into the world, it was into the loving arms of a fantastic family. His mother and father teased him and doted on him and his older, twin sisters did the same. He got himself into trouble nearly every day and, with a smile or a pout, just as easily got himself out of it. He laughed as often as he made his family laugh. He was absolutely content.

Then, one day, his mother went to the hospital and never came back. Jacob was too young to understand why Rebecca had gotten so distant and Rachel had gotten so angry while Billy struggled to keep the family together, but he understood enough to know that his mother was gone forever. He cried through the entirety of the first night and has not cried since. He threw himself into a new hobby. He learned how to fix bikes and other mechanical devices. He made friends and put on a happy face. He tried to help everyone else with their grief by smiling through his own. Even now, he still doesn't like to talk about his Mom.

Predictably, Rachel and Rebecca left for college, leaving Billy and Jacob behind. Jacob remained close with his father, who became his primary confidant and a good friend. When he wasn't hanging out with his friends or in the garage, Jacob was hanging out with his Dad. He found companions in Quil Ateara and Embry Call, two boys also from the rez, and the three of them caused mischief all over and pulled pranks pretty much daily. At this point, Jacob can hardly remember his mother's face and has only the photographs to help him remember her.

Both his sisters eventually returned home for varying reasons and Jacob is enjoying their return. He's in his sophomore year of high school and is working on revamping himself a car.

HAIR: Black and short. He cut it last summer and it's grown out some, but not a lot.
BODY: Lanky. Kind of like a scrawny tree trunk.
